This alluring museum located inside of Chehelsoton Palace in Sabzeh Meydan (literally Green Square), Qazvin, Qazvin Province, Iran.

History and culture of Calligraphy Museum of Qazvin

From a long time ago, Qazvin has been the center of calligraphy in Iran and has great calligraphers such as Malek Deylami, Mir Emad Hassani, Goharshad Ghazvini (Mir Emad's daughter) and several other. Chehelsoton Palace is the only remained palace from Tahmasp I Era and has one of the most attractive Qazvin's museums inside where is known as a treasure trove of historical and ancient things.

You'll find amazing calligraphy works there, mostly in Nastaliq (one of the main calligraphic hands used in writing the Persian alphabet and traditionally the predominant style in Persian calligraphy). Mir Emad Hassani, Mirza Mohammad Hussein Qazvini, Malek Mohammad Qazvini, Mir Ali Heravi, Malek Deylami, Wisal al-Shirazi, Aboutorab Esfahani, Sultan Ali Mashhadi, etc., can be mentioned among the fabulous calligrapher. Also, there are precious Qurans (the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God) and valuable religious texts have been preserved, including a Quran dedicated to the beginning of the Safavid Era.

Tips and ideas

What you can feel when you visiting here is incomparable with what I write. Walking in a lively yard of the Chehelsoton Palace will make you fresh. You can also visit the Municipality Mansion of Qazvin where belongs to the Qajar Era. Sepah Street, the first street of Iran, Is nearby and worth seeing. The next tourist site can be Sa'd al-Saltaneh Caravanserai where contain different spots per se and it's worth to dedicate a full day to go sightseeing there and believe me, you'll love it.

Chehelsoton Palace was a hangout for bookworms or those interested to spend their leisure time in a calm environment. In summer, there are Rose-ringed Parakeets (a medium-sized parrot) around which nobody knows where they come from and it has a ring to it.
