Geographical location of Shahidi House

It is located in Sultan Seyyed Mohammad Alley, Akhound District, a historical district full of monuments, near Tabriz Street, one of the oldest streets in Qazvin, Qazvin Province, Iran.

History and culture of Shahidi House

According to the form of plasterwork used in the building, some say that it dates back to the Safavid period, but the construction and artwork show Qajar's work, so most of the people believe that it belongs to Qajar era. Unfortunately, the interior part of the building was destroyed and only the exterior part has remained which is in two floors.

Architecture of Shahidi House

Shahidi House has a front yard that according to ancient architectural tradition, is smaller than its backyard. The central hall, guesthouse, has a high ceiling and on each side, small rooms with low height are located. The house consists of two alcoves that are placed in front of one another along with wooden frames, eye-catching plasterwork, glorious paintings, and well-adorned walls. It also has a room, a Korsi Khaneh (a room with a table in the middle that has a heater underneath and blankets were thrown over it), and a fireplace. Shahidi House also had a cistern and a bathhouse which later were sold and turned to an apartment!

Sadly, after a fire accident many building's architectural arts were destroyed and now only a restored version of it is available. But its spectacular brickwork and captivating arches can’t be missed.

Tips and ideas

Shahidi House is only a few blocks away from Imamzadeh Soltan Seyed Mohammad and after that you can go south-west to see Bolour Bathhouse on your way. It is at Tabriz Street which is one of the oldest streets in town and full of monuments such as Ahmadieh mosque, Aminiha Hosseiniyeh, Sardar School-Mosque, and Sardar Kochak Cistern. Then go west from any alley on your way you’ll reach Navvab-e Safavi Street. Turn right to Molla Ali Street, on your right side there’s the most wonderful house you’ll ever see and that’s the Mostashar House of Qazvin. As you can see Qazvin is a small city so you don’t need any vehicle to go around. The map below shows you other nearby monuments that can be reached effortlessly.
