History and culture of Ahmadieh Mosque

Architecture of this mosque dates back to the Qajar Dynasty (an Iranian royal dynasty of Turkic origin, specifically from the Qajar tribe, ruling over Iran from 1789 to 1925). Ahmad Qazali (brother of Imam Muhammad Qazali), a famous Iranian scholar in the 5th and 6th centuries, died during his residing in Qazvin; and after that, his tomb became a monastery for his disciples. According to the existed inscription in the dome, the built date of the building dates back to 1328 AH and the founder of it was Haji abutorab Hosseini. Also, there was another inscription that referred to the cemetery of Soltan Seyed Mohammad.

Architecture of Ahmadieh Mosque

The entrance of the mosque is curved and has an iron door that adorned with tiling. The entrance door leads to two ways; one in the right side which goes down from few steps and leads to the courtyard where is under the mosque's sahn (a courtyard in Islamic architecture and most traditional mosques have a large central sahn), the other in the left side is a roofed way that is semicircular and turns around the mosque and leads to the sahn. On the northern side of the mosque, there is the tomb, a storeroom right next to it, a public bathroom on the western side, and a basement (cellar) on the southern side of it. Sash windows (Muntin), latticed lightwells, and ornamental vaults all have an amazing tilling based on Qajar architecture style.

Few people in Qazvin know this mosque and it's mostly close and is allowed to visit at the time of Adhan (also written as Adhaan, Azan, Azaan or Athan, also called Ezan in Turkish, is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by the mu'azzin (a person appointed at a mosque to lead and recite the call to prayer for every event of prayer and worship in the mosque) at prescribed times of the day). Before coming to this mosque, visit Ali Qapu Gate at the beginning of the Sepah Street for sure and enjoy the incredible architecture there. Also, you can go to Imamzadeh Esmaeil where located almost near the Ahmadieh Mosque but before it. There is Jameh Mosque of Qazvin nearby where is the oldest jameh mosque in Iran and the oldest one in Qazvin; Stunning tilings and pleasant courtyards of this mosque will allure you. Also don't forget to visit Sepah Street, the first designed Iranian street where worth seeing.
