Geographical location of Sarab Gamasiab
Sarab Gamasiab originates from the glaciers of Zagros mountain range. This sarab is located next to Gamasiab Cave on the outskirts of Nahavand city in Hamedan province. Green or Grove mountain range is located 20 km south of Nahavand city and Gamasiab region is surrounded by the northern valleys of this mountain range. The flow rate of this spring is about 5 cubic meters per second. This amount is very significant in the scale of Zagros sarabs and even other sarabs of the country. The water coming out of the heart of the mountain, in addition to creating a beautiful sarab of Gamasiab, has flowed the roaring and large river of Gamasiab along the natural valley of the city. Nahavand city is plain in the form of a delta and crossing of Gamasiab river through its valleys, mirrigates a large part of the gardens and pastures of the city. Gamasiab river, after passing through Kermanshah, enters Lorestan province and becomes Seymareh river. The same river in Khuzestan province is called Karkheh and eventually flows into the Persian Gulf. A little above the spring, there is the natural cave of Gamasiab, which is surrounded by a beautiful forest.
This sarab is the largest and most watery spring in Iran. The name of the spring on this sarab is a bit strange with this volume of water. Because the spring often reminds us of a hole in the heart of the earth. But the water coming out of this mountain creates a large sarab and river that eventually leads to the Persian Gulf. Spring water is used to irrigate the Gamasiab forest park complex as well as drinking water. The forest park complex includes springs, caves, lakes, water transfer canals and the Gamasiab forest itself. The springs have a total area of about 100 square meters and are surrounded by fences around them to prevent water degradation and pollution.
Tips and idea
A beautiful lake has been created near the spring, which has created a spectacular view with tall and lush trees. Swimming in this lake is very dangerous, but the environment around the lake is a good place to set up a tent and stay overnight and rest. Do not forget to not leave your cigarette butt in nature and do not light a fire in this area. If you start a fire, be sure to extinguish it properly with plenty of water and sprinkle some dirt and sand on it to prevent it from catching and re-igniting.
This area alone is large enough to fill you one day. So choose a sunny day in spring and summer to visit it and have a good time with your family.
